Old Town Elk Grove is the heart of the Elk Grove community. More than 100 years of history can be touched on the walls of the buildings on Elk Grove Boulevard. It is a haven for visitors and longtime residents who want to shop, enjoy wonderful eating establishments or simply want to relax.
Old Town is in the midst of big changes including the addition of 2 new businesses on Railroad Street where the City has purchased abandoned historical buildings and has begun renovations. The Old Town plaza is being revitalized and will serve as a beautiful and flexible space for gathering and events and will include additional parking for Old Town visitors. Plans also include phase 2 of a street revitalization project which will being in the coming months.
There are a variety of boutiques, salons, restaurants, and antique stores to peruse. You can spend the day walking the boulevard, visiting retailers, stop for an adult beverage, have lunch and dinner at one of the restaurants, just relax in the plaza or visit one of its many events throughout the year. The largest event in the Old Town area is the Dickens Faire which brings thousands to enjoy the unofficial kickoff of the holiday season. The event happens each year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving and includes over 100 vendors, entertainment and even a kids area for crafts and fun for the little ones.
Old Town’s rich history can be seen during a downloadable walking tour available on the Foundation’s website at
