BOARD OF
DIRECTORS ELECTION PROCESS
NOMINATING COMMITTEE
In August, the Board approves the
Chairman’s appointment of a nominating committee comprised of five
voting Chamber members.
During August, the Nominating Committee
solicits and receives applications from voting members interested in
serving on the Board of Directors. The Committee then reviews the
applications and interviews the applicants, taking into consideration
the following:
- Qualifications of the applicants,
including familiarity with Chamber operations
- Skills of the applicants and current
board members compared to Chamber needs
- How the applicant can assist the board
in carrying out the Chamber’s current mission and goals and
objectives
At the September Board meeting, Nominating
Committee will present to the Board a Slate of nominees for
Chair-Elect and Directors for vacant Director positions. On receipt
of report, notification of the recommended slate is mailed to all
Chamber members.
PETITION
TO CHALLENGE THE SLATE
At this point, members have the right to
petition to add their name to the Slate.
If no petitions are received by the
specified date, the Slate is deemed elected at the October Board
meeting.
If a petition is filed pursuant to the rules
and timeline set forth in the bylaws, ballots are sent to all voting
members. Those candidates receiving the highest number of votes will
fill the positions.
