Chamber to China Trip
Itinerary - October 23 - 31, 2008

Day 1 - Thursday, October 23
Elk Grove/San Francisco/Beijing

Board a convenient charter bus from the Chamber’s parking lot to San Francisco International Airport for the afternoon flight CA986 at 1:55 pm to Beijing.  Your adventure begins as you fly trans-Pacific aboard a wide cabin jetliner. Cross the International Dateline.

Day 2 - Friday, October 24
Beijing

Arrive in Beijing, the Capital of China at 6:15 pm. You will be met by your local tour guide at the airport. Transfer to the hotel. 

Day 3 - Saturday, October 25
Beijing

Visit the Tian An Men Square, the largest square in the world, and the Temple of Heaven, built in 1420 A.D., where the emperors prayed to the heaven for a good harvest. Sightseeing also includes the Palace Museum, also known as the Forbidden City, home of 24 emperors with a total of 9,999 rooms, and the Summer Palace, known for the Long Corridor with painted gallery, Kunming Lake and Longevity Hill, Seventeen- Arch Bridge and Marble Boat. Business meeting at 8:00 pm for those who requested making contacts.

Day 4 - Sunday, October 26
Beijing

Tour bus excursion to the Great Wall, the 4,000 miles long and 2,000 years old, is said to be the only man-made structure visible by the naked eye from the moon. Visit to the Ming Tombs, one of 13 Ming Emperors' Tombs is fully excavated and open for exploration. Roasted Beijing Duck Dinner. 

Day 5* - Monday, October 27
Beijing/Shanghai/Suzhou

Morning Air China flight CA1519 to Shanghai, and then a tour bus trip to Suzhou.   Evening Dinner Show with traditional Chinese music.

 Day 6* - Tuesday, October 28
Suzhou/Hangzhou

Morning sightseeing to the centuries old Lingering Garden, Tiger Hill and Hanshan Temple.  Visit the National Embroidery Institute to see silk embroidery, an important local craft with 1,000 years history.  Afternoon tour bus journey to Hangzhou.  Visit to Economic Development Zone.

Day 7* - Wednesday, October 29
Hangzhou/Shanghai

Morning boat cruise on West Lake with a relaxing stopover at jewel-like pagodas and tea houses.    Visit to the centuries old Lingyin Temple, with the main feature of the 64.3 feet high camphor-wood carved Buddha.  Afternoon tour bus trip to Shanghai. 

Day 8 - Thursday, October 30
Shanghai

Sightseeing includes the Yu Garden, a maze of marvelous pavilions, ponds, rocky works and over arching trees.  Visit to the Bund, a famous waterfront park.  Business visit to the Pudong economic development zone.

Day 9 - Friday, October 31
Shanghai/San Francisco/Elk Grove

Morning flight to Beijing and then CA985 to San Francisco will arrive approx. 11:55 am on the same day.  Return to the Chamber parking lot by shuttle bus.

 *Optional trip to Xi'an
 Day 5* - Monday, October 27
Beijing/
Xi'an
Morning flight to Xi’an.  Afternoon sightseeing to the Big Wild Geese Pagoda.  Evening entertainment of Tang Style Dancing.

Day 6* - Tuesday, October 28
Xi'an
Morning bus excursion to the Terra-Cotta Warriors at the Tomb of the First Emperor of Qin Dynasty.  Then visit the Huaqing Hot Spring Park and Banpo Museum, a preserved pre-historical cavemen site.

Day 7* -  Wednesday, October 29
Xi'an/Shanghai
Morning flight to Shanghai followed by the sightseeing in the afternoon.
